Start With the Market You Actually Trade
A prop-firm shortlist should begin with instruments and execution workflow, not the largest advertised account. Futures traders need to compare exchange access, supported platforms, end-of-day versus intraday drawdown, contract limits, payout conditions, and the route from evaluation to simulated or live funding. That is why this ranking puts futures programs first.
Forex and CFD programs remain useful comparisons, but their leverage, overnight rules, news restrictions, and simulated-account structures are not interchangeable with futures programs. Traders should read the exact rules for the selected account rather than assuming that one firm-wide summary applies to every plan.
A Practical Shortlisting Process
- Choose futures, CFDs, forex, stocks, or options before comparing firms.
- Write down the maximum loss and daily-loss calculation in dollars.
- Check whether the threshold trails intraday, at end of day, or becomes fixed.
- Confirm platform, data, activation, reset, and payout costs.
- Model the rules against twenty or more trades from your own strategy.
